Week 6 A

 To start this week we had to view one video from https://www.societyillustrators.org/video-archive. I chose to view the caricature video as I am very intrigued by caricature art. After viewing the video, it really inspired me to continue to practice my drawing. Of the artists that were shown, I chose to view Jake Panian. I chose to view his work because it looks like his drawing took the form of caricature. After viewing this piece I realized that as of right now I do not think I can compete with his work. I believe this because I am just learning to draw and overall my drawing skills are not the best. I plan on focusing the caricature style throughout the semester to really get a feel and generate some skill towards it. I hope that this class will give me the opportunity to push my comfort zone a little by making me draw more with my hand rather then a pen tool in illustrator. I do believe that one day I will be able to compete with these artists and hopefully it can be by the end of the semester. I can't wait to further my journey with caricature drawing.

Week 10 B

 I have decided to change up the design style up just a bit to ensure cohesiveness with my gif. I have changed the style of the ghosts. Instead of having them drawn in the sketchy chalk style, I had made it a flat ink white style using the gel ink brush in procreate. I felt that the stark difference between the sketchy style and the bright smooth fire style made it look a little off. These changes make the piece look more cohesive and I believe that it looks and works better. This was a great exorcise for me because I love animation. Anything animation related is my go to and I hope more projects can have some kind of motion or animating to them in the future. Below is my final gif and time lapse. it is consisted of 20 frames. Week 10 A

  For this week we have to create an animated gif. We can choose any topic we want and since it's Halloween season, I have decided to turn a portion of my latest illustration into an animated gif. found below you can see my progress so far. Basically I took the soul ball and animated it by having ghosts or soul floating up towards the top of the flaming soul ball/orb. Ever since I was illustrating this, I always imagined it being animates. Now I can make that a reality.

Week 9 B

 Final project UPDATED SUBMISSION  To reiterate my thought process for this project, I wanted to do something more abstract instead of a more literal connection to the article. I wanted to illustrate the overall motive and goal of the man in the article. His whole goal year after year is to get the chance to scare some kids on Halloween. I wanted to illustrate his goal finally becoming a reality by illustrating a spooky skeleton hand holding the souls of the trick or treaters he finally scared straight. One last minute change I made was to add masks to the ghosts to add another connection to the article and that this year if Halloween isn't canceled, most kids will probably be wearing some kind of mask under their costume.      This project was a fun experiment for me. This was the first time I had done a project in procreate and it definitely won't be the last.
